Choosing a Recovery Program |
Recovery groups offer fellowship and support. By surrounding yourself with others who are affected by the same issues you face, bonds are formed and strengths are shared. While some might be hesitant to join, it is extremely helpful to know that a group will expect no more than what you or your loved one is prepared to give.
Each recovery group has its own 'personality.' It is worthwhile to try a variety of groups before deciding if you want to include group support in your recovery program.
Home Group
If you do choose to join a group, find one you feel comfortable and make it your Home Group. This will be the group you meet with regularly at least once a week. They will become a strong support system through your recovery process. Don't be afraid to ask for phone numbers and to call member when you need help.
